About The Event
Post-rock is a form of experimental rock characterised by a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords, or riffs. Post-rock artists are often instrumental, typically combining rock instrumentation for non-rock purposes, using guitars as facilitators of sound rather than riffs and power chords. That said, the bands on this line-up absolutely rock! These are some of the most epic sounding band you’ll hear live.
Khan have only recently risen to become one of Australia’s best new exponents of the genre, melding hazy psychedelia with heavy stoner riffs and progressive rhythms.
Mushroom Giant, though, have been a regular in the scene since 2002, and have just released their first single “Owls” off their upcoming new album, which will be their fourth LP in their 20 years of making stunning instrumental progressive post-rock.
Bear the Mammoth have been developing their sound for a decade, and their 2018 album “Years Under Glass” was deservedly highly-acclaimed. Their dreamy production and drifting progressions have earned them fair comparisons to the likes of Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky.
Terrestrials are a more uptempo rock act, fusing progressive rock and metal riffs with dark ambience and strong melodic hooks. These guys put on a great live show and are not to be missed.
Treebeard are a relatively new instrumental post-rock band to the scene, but already have impressed audiences with their ability to create a live sound that mesmerises with its light and dark ebb and flow. Their brand new album “Nostalgia” is brilliant.
Beautiful Bedlam are certainly the most ‘prog’ band on the bill. They proudly embrace their ’70s prog rock influences and blend it with a whole array of exciting musical influences from jazz to modern indie.
Pale Moon's music ranges from ethereal ambience to ominous and heavy-hitting. An exciting 3-piece with a passion for complex and texture-laden songs.
Karen Heath is a singer and multi-instrumentalist with a unique style of creativity and composition. Formerly of bands such as The Grand Silent System and Prog-Rock band Ennis Tola.
Seas of Titan are a young progressive rock band just starting to make their mark on the Melbourne music scene. get there early to see these guys in action!
Doors open at 2pm with the live music starting at 2:30pm!
